Day 1: Delhi to Shimla via Kalka (Shatabdi & Toy Train)
Begin your day with an early morning transfer to New Delhi railway station, where you’ll board the Shatabdi Train to Kalka. The train departs at 07:40 AM and arrives in Kalka at 11:45 AM. Upon reaching Kalka, the next leg of your journey takes you aboard the Kalka Shimla Himalayan Queen, a charming narrow gauge toy train that winds its way from Kalka to Shimla. The distance of 96 km covers over 5 hours due to the train’s leisurely pace through the hilly terrain.
The Himalayan Queen toy train departs from Kalka at 12:10 PM and operates daily. Anticipate reaching Shimla by 5:20 PM. The journey encompasses an average speed of 18 km/h, passing through nine main stations, including Dharampur, Kumarhatti, Barog, Solan, Salogra, Kandaghat, Taradevi, Jutogh, and Summer Hill. While the train does not stop at Taksal, Gumman, Koti, Sonwara, Kanoh, Kathleeghat, and Shoghi, it does journey through a mesmerizing 102 tunnels, offering passengers an exhilarating experience as it winds through valleys and pine forests.
Upon your arrival at the Shimla railway station, we’ll transfer you to your pre-booked hotel. You’ll have the remainder of the day to unwind and relax. Enjoy an overnight stay in Shimla.
Day 2: Exploring Shimla
After breakfast at the hotel, delve into the exploration of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Renowned for being the summer capital during British India, Shimla still retains its charm. The narrow-gauge Kalka – Shimla Railway, established in 1903, connects this picturesque town. A highlight of your sightseeing includes visits to the Sankat Mochan Temple and the Jakhu Temple. In the evening, you’re free to wander through the famous shopping areas of Shimla, such as The Mall and The Ridge. Retreat for the night in Shimla.
Day 3: Shimla to Delhi via Kalka (Shatabdi Train)
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Later, we’ll arrange for your transfer to the Kalka station. There, you’ll board the Shatabdi train to Delhi. Upon your evening arrival at the Delhi Railway station, we’ll facilitate your transfer to your pre-booked hotel in Delhi. Unwind and relax during your overnight stay in Delhi.
