Renowned for its tranquil beaches, captivating backwaters weaving through lakes and rivers, historical landmarks, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant festivals, Kerala offers a captivating experience. This journey commences in the cultural heart of Cochin, then takes you through the enchanting hills of Munnar, and further into the lush tropical landscapes of Periyar / Thekkady. The adventure continues with a serene houseboat cruise along the backwaters, followed by a well-deserved relaxation on the inviting shores of Marari Beach.

Day 1: Arrival in Cochin

Upon your arrival at Cochin airport, our team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Cochin, a vibrant and diverse port city spread over several islands and peninsulas, awaits your exploration. The town of Ernakulam on the mainland and the islands interconnected by ferryboat networks offer a unique charm for the next two days. The iconic Chinese fishing boats line the Fort Cochin headland, dipping into the sea during high tide. As you wander through its backstreets, the aroma of spices like ginger and cardamom fills the air, a testament to the area’s rich heritage.

Day 2: Exploring Cochin

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, embark on a sightseeing tour of Cochin’s attractions. The Chinese fishing nets, an ingenious contraption of teak wood and bamboo poles, showcase a delicate balance in action. The Vasco Da Gama Square, a promenade paralleling the beach, offers a prime spot to witness the lowering and raising of the fishing nets. Explore the Jewish Synagogue, which traces its roots back nearly 2000 years. The heart of the Jewish community, Jewtown, houses the crown jewel, Paradesi Synagogue, known for its distinctive tile roof and bell tower. Wander through the International Pepper Exchange, situated in Jewtown. In the evening, immerse yourself in the art of Kathakali storytelling.

Day 3: Cochin to Munnar

Following breakfast, begin your journey towards Munnar. During the ride, indulge in the captivating sights of streaming waterfalls, rubber, pepper, cardamom, and tea plantations, as well as dense forests. The natural beauty of “God’s Own Country” is boundless. Upon reaching Munnar, check in at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 4: Exploring Munnar

After a delightful breakfast, set out to explore Munnar’s enchanting attractions. Visit the Eravikulam National Park, a sanctuary known for the endangered Nilgiri tahr. Discover Munnar’s historical significance as the summer retreat of the British and its famous tea plantations covering vast landscapes. The Tea Museum offers fascinating insights into tea processing. Explore other landmarks, including Mattupetty Dam, Eco-Point, Kundala Dam, Top Station, Nyayamkad & Attukal Waterfalls, and a tea factory. A visit to the local market and old Munnar completes the day’s experiences.

Day 5: Munnar to Periyar

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Periyar. Arriving in Periyar, partake in a boat ride on Lake Periyar, soaking in the tranquil surroundings.

Day 6: Discovering Periyar

Start your day with an early morning boat cruise on Periyar Lake, exploring one of India’s largest wildlife reserves. Witness a diverse array of wildlife while cruising along the lake. After breakfast, visit a spice plantation, where you’ll learn about various spices like cardamom, pepper, vanilla, clove, and nutmeg, as well as Ayurvedic plants and herbs. In the evening, be enthralled by the captivating Kerala martial art form, Kalaripayattu.

Day 07: Periyar to Kumarakom

Savor a leisurely breakfast before your drive to Kumarakom. Arriving in Kumarakom, embark on a backwater cruise aboard a private houseboat. Experience the beauty of the backwaters as you enjoy your meals onboard.

Day 8: Alleppey to Marari

Disembark from the houseboat in Alleppey and proceed to Marari. This serene village, also known as Mararikulam, offers a peaceful escape. Check in to your independent villa at Marari Beach. Relax and unwind after lunch, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.

Day 9: Relaxing in Marari

Take advantage of a leisurely morning and enjoy breakfast by the beach. The day is yours to relax and rejuvenate amidst the calming surroundings.

Day 10: Return to Cochin – Onward flight

After a leisurely breakfast, drive back to Cochin. Depending on your flight schedule, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your journey home, carrying cherished memories of your tour with you.

Sachin and team arranged our tour and what a great job they did... All the travel guides and Reps that were introduced to us in each town were so passionate and knowledgeable of the area and took great care of us.

Our driver Gordhan who was with us 10 days was so funny and also at the same time a very safe driver. He made our very long hours journey very comfortable.
